"They watched Umbrella... I was full nude," tweets Rihanna in response to YouTube flagging the video of her new song "S&M." As Rihanna continues to push the boundaries of Top 40 radio, first singing about how she "loves the way it hurts," in "Love the Way You Lie" to "S & M's" "sticks and stones may break my bones, but chains and whips excite me," she grows as an artist because she's believable as a woman who's not making this up out of thin air. One imagines that there is an element of truth in all this role-playing. And as the playful video rolls along we are treated to several sight gags, including one of a leashed Perez Hilton on all fours pretending to pee on a fire hydrant. Said to be banned in 11 countries and counting, "S & M" is likely to be a dancefloor staple for months to come, if not the radio.
