Red Bucket Films' Josh and Benny Safdie Premiere The Black Balloon Tomorrow at BAM Cinemafest

PAPERMAG
It's supposed to be another humid and hot tomorrow and we can't think of a better way to spend the afternoon than in a nice, cool movie theater. Particularly the theater at BAM, where Josh and Benny Safdie of Red Bucket Films are presenting an all-ages program of film shorts as part of BAM's Cinemafest tomorrow at 2 p.m. The theme? Balloons. The Safdies will be screening their short The Black Balloon (making its New York premiere), which won the Jury Prize for US Short Fiction at this year's Sundance festival as well as the Wholphin Award at SXSW, and, which, according to them, features, "Some of the greatest balloon acting of all time." Also on the agenda: French children's classic The Red Balloon, The Balloonatic, featuring Buster Keaton navigating a hot-air balloon he accidentally lifts off in, and the 1930s cartoon Balloon Land, in which an evil villain named Pincushion Man terrorizes a land of balloon people. Scary! Tickets are $13; $10 for children and seniors; $8 for Cinema Club Members.)
