Real Life's "Send Me an Angel" (RAD Version) Is Our Music Video of the Day

PAPERMAG

We were so busy watching both versions of Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" last Oldie-But-Goodie-Friday, that we totally forgot it was the official 25th Anniversary of BMX-teen-romance classic RAD! The film, starring Bill Allen as BMXer Cru, and Aunt Becky as his love interest, Christian, had a three-day RAD 25th anniversary festival in Canada last weekend that sounds like it was a real fun time. Though this isn't technically a music video, we're making an exception today and paying homage to the film's four-minute montage of Cru and Christian dancing to Australian new wave band Real Life's 1983 hit "Send Me an Angel" on their bikes. Incidentally, the band released a goth Beauty and the Beast-esque video for the song in 1983 that is totally worth watching and a less entertaining one in 1989 in which they edited out their original keyboard player.

P.S. This is a lengthier version of the scene and the actual dance starts at 1:15.
P.P.S. The Godfather and Rocky star Talia Shire, real-life mother of Jason Schwartzman and former Papermag guest blogger Robert Schwartzman, plays Cru's mother in the film.
