Someone needs to teach a lesson in texting manners to New Yorkers. Last Tuesday night, while presenting the film Falling for Grace at the Asia Society, Whoopi Goldberg (wearing Shanghai Tang) publicly called out a blonde socialite for texting during her talk. Go Whoopi! Falling for Grace is written, directed and produced by Broadway actress Fay Ann Lee and is a romantic comedy with an Asian protagonist. Originally titled "East Broadway" and rejected by studios who didn't think an Asian woman could carry the lead, Lee went the indie route, raised money and got stars like Gale Harold, Christine Baranski, Lewis Black and Margaret Cho to co-star with her. The non-texters in the audience included designers Angel Sanchez, Miguelina Gambaccini; socials like Debbie Bancroft, Lara Meiland, Jennifer Creel, Kathleen Turner, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Adelina Wong Ettelson, Tracy Stern, Susan Shin (who has a cameo in the movie), Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos, author Anisha Lakhani, IMG's Fern Mallis, hair god Edward Tricomi, Real Housewives of New York Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan and Alex McCord; and former NYC Mayor David Dinkins and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.
