Guests had a non-drug induced (I think) '80s graffiti flashback at The Top of The Standard's private after-party Tuesday night for Tamra Davis' excellent documentary Jean Michel Basquiat The Radiant Child, presented by NOWNESS. People who knew Basquiat back in the day filled the room: Glenn O'Brien, PAPER's Carlo McCormick and Fab 5 Freddy, to name a few. Artist Shepard Fairey was the DJ and I spotted Beastie Boy and Davis' husband Mike D, Chris Rock, designer Elise Overland, Hope Atherton, Johan Lindeberg, Waris Ahluwalia, Lauren Goodman, Happy Massee, Brad Schlei, Eugenia Gonzalez, Kristian Laliberte, Elisa Lipsky-Karasz, Sarah Cristobal (fresh from the Hole concert), photographer Todd Eberle (snapping pics), and Russell Simmons. The music was loud and the room was packed. Upstairs on the roof, ganja spiked the midnight air: Basquait would have been right at home.
