Winter dance parties are fun because they're always super cozy and everyone lets loose and ignores the fact that their faces are all chapped and their noses won't stop running. Case in point, "Live From Tribeca," a new weekly party at the Tribeca Grand organized by Ilirjana Alushaj (Apache Beat, Typical Girls) and Tyler Thacker (Greatest Hits, GUNK TV), featuring a rotating cast of guest DJs and bands. Despite the chilly weather on Saturday, a good-sized crowd turned out for DJ sets from Ric Leichtung and Emilie Friedlander, formerly of Pitchfork's Altered Zones (who are launching new music site Adhoc.fm in 2012), and a performance fromRaw Thrills. Check out Zac Sebastian's photos from the party above. (Here's the flyer for next week's show, with Xeno and Oaklander, Gavin Russom and Veronica Vasicka. RSVP to events@grandlifenyc.com for free entry.)
