O Pioneers! Edun to Launch Online Pioneers Project

Mickey Boardman

Tomorrow, the socially responsible fashion line Edun will launch its Pioneers Project, an online marketing campaign featuring and celebrating men "who are doing their part to add goodwill to social currency and they are doing so on a global scale." Edun founder Ali Hewson (who runs the line with Bono, her husband) brought together a roster of do-gooders including some PAPER favorites like chef Marcus Samuelsson, Tom's shoes founder Blake Mycoskie and Neil Blumenthal and David Gilboa of Warby Parker. "We sought out guys who think outside the box, and also have natural style," Hewson told me. All the gents were photographed by Ben Watts and the results will appear on Edun's website with a new pioneer popping up every other week. As for branching out to women? "We're getting a great reaction to the men's, so I think it will be a good move for us to include women in the future." The site kicks off tomorrow night with a celebratory dinner at Samuelsson's Red Rooster restaurant in Harlem.
