MOCA "Art in the Streets" Artist REVOK Busted in L.A.
Acclaimed California graffiti artist REVOK (ne' Jason Williams) of MSK (Mad Society Kings) was arrested Sunday at LAX while about to board a plane to Ireland. Though his work appears in MOCA's "Art in the Streets," the arrest was apparently not related to the exhibit. The LA County Sheriff's Department claimed that it was due to an "outstanding warrant for failure to pay restitution for previous vandalism incidents." He is being held in lieu of $320,000 bail.
On his blog, REVOK refers to his participation in the MOCA show as "an incredibly overwhelming experience." He and designer Angel Labada produced a limited-edition book, Nocturne, and the artist made several tee-shirts that are sold exclusively at the MOCA bookstore during the exhibit's run. He also collab'd on jeans and a denim jacket with the exhibit's sponsor, Levi's, that is out in June.
