We realize we just had Miley Cyrus on the cover of PAPER this year. But can you ever truly have enough Miley in your life? Especially when she's dressed like some kind of other-dimensional Princess Toadstool? Obviously not.
"I was so sober, I painted myself pink to enjoy a slice in my fairy garden. I've never tried any psychedelics, but I'm not against it. LOL," says Cyrus, in regards to how this photo for our new Fandemonium issue with her friend Vijat Mohindra came about. "The very small people you see in the bottom right frame are actually just shrunken reflections of my inner self."
Glad we got that cleared up.
While PAPER invites you to, as ever, bask in her outrageousness, it's also worth taking a moment to celebrate both her generosity and time-management skills. This year she balanced her work with The Happy Hippie Foundation, the homeless and LGBTQ youth advocacy organization she started, and the trans visibility #Instapride campaign with hosting this year's VMAs, releasing the free album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz and being an attentive pig mother. Not that her efforts are always appreciated.
"Pig Pig, my pet pig which once graced the cover of your magazine, has started to bite when you feed her, which is odd because the only time she is happy is when you feed her," Cyrus says. "Without Pringles, you would've never gotten that cover. Pig Pig loves her snacks. Her favorite? My ankles."
