As any Amsterdammer will remind you, their beautiful canal-filled city is not all about sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. In this city with a surprisingly small population (around 800,000 inhabitants -- the size of San Francisco), there's a high density of cool creatives shaking up fashion, art, music, food and more. Meet 11 folks changing the city -- the Beautiful People of Amsterdam -- below.

, which received a Michelin star last year.

How would you describe Dutch cuisine?

We use a lot of vegetables and the typical Dutch classics (perhaps a little cliché) are herring, cheese and a sandwich in the afternoon.

What is your favorite dish

My favorite two dishes at the moment would be:
- Roasted langoustine with trout eggs, green curry cream and popped wild quinoa - Crispy braised meat with red cabbage, mustard crust and crème de cassis

Where are your three favorite places to go out in the city?

Definitely the Het Vodelpark, which is great to visit in the summer. I'm also a big fan of De Zeedijk, a street in the old center of the city and Restaurant de Goudfazant.

Who -- or what -- inspired you to start blogging?

When I started 6 years ago, this whole blogging phenomenon didn't really exist as it does now. I started blogging just because I wanted to practice my writing and fashion was my favorite subject. I genuinely didn't even know people were reading my work so it was all a very natural and organic evolution to what it is now.

How does the city inspire you?

It's so eclectic. Even though Amsterdam is small, it doesn't have a "small town mentality."

Where do you like going out in the city?

I'm not much of a night creature but one of my favorite cocktail bars is Dvars. Their drinks are divine.
