Madonna's first-ever performance at legendary downtown club Danceteria. Teenage Beastie Boys loitering around. The Clash playing a show in Times Square. All of these incredible moments were captured on film by star photographer Josh Cheuse, who began shooting bands as a teenager growing up in '80s-era New York City. Starting Thursday, September 18, Cheuse's photos will be on view in Grooving Years a new show at NYC's Morrison Hotel Gallery (116 Prince St.). Of the exhibit, Morrison's co-owner Peter Blachley says:

"Josh Cheuse has a style. A photographic style which comes from perseverance, talent and luck. Josh came into shooting music artists around the same time that music was finding ways to re-invent itself and at the same time become more authentic. The Clash and The Beastie Boys were two groups that embodied this and Josh Cheuse's camera captured these artists over and over again."
