Lingerie Meets Microfinance on the Runway

Peter Davis

Last week supermodel (and former PAPER columnist) Veronica Webb hit the runway after five years away from the catwalk. Webb sashayed in the Freedom Bay St. Lucia's presentation of Lingerie New York at Cipriani 42nd Street. The evening was a mix of silk, latex, lace and... microfinance! The fancy dinner and fashion show benefited the Seven Bar Foundation, which is directed by Renata Mutis Black and Kim Hoedeman and fuels female-oriented microfinance institutions. Actress Michelle Rodriguez spun the tunes and the ladies there -- Kimberly Guilfoyle, Kelly Bensimon, Coralie Charriol Paul, Christina Greeven Cuomo, Eva Lorenzotti, Valesca Guerrand-Hermes and Tracy Stern to name a few -- lapped up the lingerie on display. But of course the real fans were the men in the audience. Do you really think Russell Simmons would miss a live lingerie show?
