Run, don't walk, to Allegra LaViola Gallery down on East Broadway for your last chance to catch a really neat exhibit courtesy of artists Joe Grillo and Jason McLean: "O-Pee-Chee Dirt Pile." Grillo (a frequent Kenny Scharf collaborator, member of art collective Dearraindrop and represented by The Hole) and McLean (a Toronto-based artist who's worked with the Royal Art Lodge and All Star Schnauzer Band) first met in 2004 while doing  a collage project with Bergdorf Goodman -- of all places! They began sending each other drawings, collages and other random ephemera by mail, joined up on various musical projects, and now present a body of individual work (Grillo's signature neon electric cartoony characters; McLean's manipulated maps, laminated bus transfers and concert tickets, painted envelopes as well as other found objects) and collaborative collages. Ms. LaViola was kind enough to send us quite the selection of images from the show, which you can scroll through above.
