Kim Petras Dancing In Front of Her Own Face is a Mood

The year's most important pop star Kim Petras has released a new video for her Lil Aaron-assisted single, "Faded" — a glossy synth-driven bop about the singer's carefree LA lifestyle. "I ain't gonna lie," Petras sings. "I'm faded out my mind/ Faded every night."

Directed by Nicholas Harwood (SOPHIE, Blood Orange, Porches), the "Faded" visual features Petras dancing in front of her own face plastered on a giant wall behind her (because, why tf not). The video was designed to reflect the style of '90s teen sitcoms, and sees Petras wearing a ton of incredible looks (Christian Cowan, MarryMe-JimmyPaul, Chromat).

"Faded" follows a long string of pop singles from Petras, including her breakout hit "I Don't Want It At All," and buzz tracks "Hillside Boys," "Hills," and "Slow It Down." The singer, who's transgender and German-born, was also featured on Charli XCX's Pop 2, lending her vocals to mixtape highlight "Unlock It" with Jay Park.

Describing her forthcoming debut album, Kim Petras told PAPER it looks back on the last 5 years of her life — "my experiences, my heartbreak, my fantasies. It's very inspired by nostalgia, by nostalgic pop," she said. "I love Queen, The Cardigans, a lot of Italian '80s disco. Also living on Hollywood Boulevard for awhile, struggling in LA, songs that match where I go out at."
