Issa Rae, star of beloved webseries Awkward Black Girl and the upcoming HBO series Insecure, started a GoFundMe page yesterday for the children of slain Alton Sterling; in 9 hours, the page raised $200K.
Now at $304,661, Issa's charity is a runaway success, and a testament to American unity in the face of oppression and racism.
Issa tweeted her gratitude for the outpouring of love last night:

Alton Sterling, 37, was executed by Baton Rouge, Louisiana police on Tuesday--completely unarmed. He was one of the 122 black men murdered by police in 2016.
That toll is now at 123, with the recent shooting death of Philando Castile in Minnesota, who was executed for reaching for his wallet after his wife was pulled over; you can donate to Philando's family here.
