TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7 - SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2006 * * * L.A. COUNTDOWN * * * Last year PAPER invaded Los Angeles in our usual swashbuckling way and showed Angelinos what New York is all about. In return, we met loads of fun and talented locals who graciously showed us the L.A. ropes. While we all worked really hard, in true PAPER fashion, we partied our asses off from dusk to dawn. Every last detail is captured in our February 2006 issue and right here. So, brace yourselves -- PAPER is going back to Cali! On November 7th, we're invading the West Coast in full force with a 5-day extravaganza of art, fashion and music. There will be fashion shows, art exhibits, concerts, hair wars, a store opening, a panel, dim sum, dancing, ice cream, lipstick and more. And of course, parties, parties and more parties. This time PAPER will be celebrating the varied and eclectic neighborhoods of Los Angeles -- from Venice Beach to Silverlake to Culver City to Frog City. We're so excited to meet, photograph and write about all you hardcore people. And wait, there's more: We've decided to import some of our favorite New Yorkers to Los Angeles. Get psyched to meet Three AsFour, Benjamin Cho, Gareth Pugh, The Neistat Brothers and many other PAPER-friendly freaks. HEY, WE'RE LOOKING FOR L.A. INTERNS! PAPER heads over to one of our favorite neighborhoods, Echo Park, to host a bash with DJ/co-host Alexis Rivera. Check out a live performance by PAPER's new favorite band, Very Be Careful. We feel so at home in Silver Lake that we knew we had to throw a big party here. And we had to do it with our old friends at Rudy's, the shop that's like the Town Hall of this neighborhood. The party will feature local DJs and musicians, including Franki Chan (iheartcomix) and avant-punks Sir Heffington and the Fingered Dancers. Just to add an extra level of craziness, we've also invited our outrageous friends from Detroit who created Hair Wars, the insane hairstyling competition. (Lucky for us, they happened to be in town!) Get ready, because their hairdos are so high that they will barely fit in a car! M.A.C and PAPER will also be scouting and photographing the MOST AMAZING FACES we can find. If you have an amazing face, come on down and show it to us. Who knows, maybe you'll end up winning gifts from M.A.C and getting your picture in PAPER!
