Last night in a desolate area of Santa Ana, Papermag faves Hunx and His Punx played a totally bonkers show at an all-ages skate park called Unit B Studio. The venue, with three skate bowls in addition to the stage, was as vivid as the band themselves, who were decked out in custom puffy-painted rock logo jumpsuits courtesy of designer Peggy Noland. Clever details on the costumes (which the band will be taking with them today as they depart for their Australian tour) include nods to frontman Seth Bogart's previous band Gravy Train, Alvin's Chipmunk Punk, and fitting for a skate park, Avril Lavigne, mixed in with classic punk logos. Bassist Shannon Shaw's was even customized with a "Shanzig" logo, and newest Hunx member Justin Champlin looked as hot in his unitard as he does in the bunny mask and briefs he wears for his other project, storied garage punk act Nobunny. LA man-about-town Johnny Makeup came along for the trip south, and took a valiant shot on the boards while also playing cheerleader to the cute young skater boys ripping up the bowls. Check out the wacky, hormone-infused pics below.
