When it comes to show business legends, there are few who are as, well,
divine as
Divine. The late drag star, who starred in many of
John Waters' early, career-launching films including
Female Trouble and
Pink Flamingos (in which Divine famously ate a piece of dog poop) and, later,
Hairspray, is the subject of new documentary
I am Divine from filmmaker
Jeffrey Schwarz. The film, which features interviews with Waters,
Mink Stole, Ricki Lake and
Michael Musto as well as family members of Divine (
nee Harris Glenn Milstead), looks just fantastic. There's just one little problem -- filmmakers need to raise $100,000 to put the film out. They've raised about $1800 so far and have until late October to meet their goal. If filth is your politics (and your life), you can contribute to the project at
indiegogo.com. Donations start at a reasonable $10, which isn't too shabby. Just think -- for the price of a pair of
cha-cha heels, you could be contributing to Divine history.
