Last night, the iconic Salsa Con Fuego nightclub in the Bronx became an incredibly lit platform for an underground music and dance showcase called Push Yourself, curated by NYC's own GHE20G0TH1K for a very special edition of Ray-Ban x Boiler Room's collaborative series that unfolds with new curators all year.

A killer line-up rounded out by Messiah El Artista, Tate Kobang, Fade To Mind's ASMARA, LSDXOXO, DJ Cueheat, and many others, it was a true testament to many of GHE20G0TH1K's core values as a platform meant to spotlight queer black and latino artists, local punks and hardcore DJs, and provide a platform for musical exchange and collaboration within these circles. Begun in 2009 by founder Venus X, the event series has held parties all over New York, including the Lower East Side, SOB's, and various warehouses and locations in Brooklyn. But last night's event shared Venus X's cultural movement with the community that raised her (and vogue) -- the Bronx. It was definitely a not-to-be-missed event, and as such, we linked up with musician and GHE20G0TH1K affiliate Ian Isiah, who served as the master of ceremonies for the entire affair, and allowed us to follow them around for the crew's big night. Peep their big night out below, alongside some insider info about the party itself.

Tell me a little more about how you linked up with GHE20G0TH1K and Venus. What makes GG the most exciting party/artistic collective today?

In 2009, when GHE20G0TH1K was a baby and just getting started, I would get out of work tired and over it from dealing with the hell of retail. So I would link up with the bestie, Shayne [Oliver] of Hood By Air and Venus X in the Lower East Side to party and raise a completely different type of hell. GHE20G0TH1K is considered to be the most exciting party and artist collective today because the heart of this party is true culture.

Has this event been in the works for a while? Did you have any input in the line-up or the details surrounding the event?

The party has been in the works for a while. Venus X curated the entire event. At first I was a bit surprised we would be in the Bronx. Usually GHE20G0TH1K is downtown somewhere secret and ratchet (which is very close to my heart). But also, once I heard Ray-Ban wanted to do something with us, then I knew this event was going to turn all the way up.

Is there a particular reason why you chose to MC rather than perform at this party?

Actually, yes. MC'ing GHE20G0TH1K is so much fun. I get to interact with the crowd as I choose and make live songs with the DJs . Basically still performing, I guess.

What's your pre-party ritual?

Call the girls over, light a few blessings in the air, sip some confidence and head to the party.
