As fashion week parties go, a good 80% of them tend to be heavy on the fashion, weak on the party. At VFILES' bash at BOW last night -- in celebration of the Hood By Air x #Been#Trill collaboration -- we got both, however. It was immediate upon arrival that at this party, we'd be getting a (sometimes) rare glimpse of fashion types really letting loose and not giving a shit, something we hadn't seen since Opening Ceremony's incredible bonanza last September. Though my friend and I arrived embarrassingly early (to avoid the crazy lines), by ten o'clock, there were enough people one vodka soda away from doing the sloppy swish that it felt more like it was 1 am. The underground venue's pitch blackness (further obscured by ample smoke courtesy of fog machines) and the pummeling trap coming from the DJ booth -- helmed by Paper's very own May Kwok -- meant that everyone from the Chromeo guys, Brad Goreski, Theophilus London, Le1f, models like Carolyn Murphy, Jourdan Dunn and Hanne Gaby and the Brothers Brant were getting down. It was a relief to see such a democratic vibe for a change, where VIPs freely inter-mingled among wildly-attired club kids or the raucous #Been#Trill collective, who set up behind the DJ booth later on in the night. Take a peek at scenes from the night and, if you have the chance, don't pass up the opportunity to join in the next time VFILES throws down (but you might want to show up early).
