Ferragamo's Fifth Avenue Facelift

Luigi Tadini

What does an iconic Italian fashion house do with 20,000 square feet of prime Fifth Avenue real estate? If you're Salvatore Ferragamo, a luxurious facelift of course. Last week, the doors to the completely renovated flagship were opened to the public with a new design that refurbished the company's largest store. The modern interior, designed to elicit the hallmark characteristics of the iconic brand, is enhanced by special touches of über posh walnut wood, Venetian plaster and an impressive polished steel central staircase. The first floor is dedicated to the ladies with a wide assortment of handbags, shoes, accessories and ready-to-wear collections. New to the space are sections devoted to their jewelry line (launched last fall) and a mouth-watering display of exotic leathers. The upper floor, on the other hand, offers all the goods the sartorial gent might require including an area reserved for custom made tailoring. The sleek boutique has also gone green with their concept lighting design created out of earth-friendly LED technology. Definitely worth a visit.
