2012 Paper Nightlife Award nominee Adam Aleksander has a reputation for concocting elaborate, storybook events, and last night, did not hold back with a bash in a private brownstone on lower 5th avenue called the Salmagundi Club. The party was held to celebrate the launch of a new social activity app called Experiences by GroupMe. Glamorously attired guests were given color-coded wristbands upon arrival, which sorted them into one of the 10 activity rooms scattered throughout the mansion's three floors.

Every 20 minutes a gong was struck in the foyer (note: a gong is what other parties are missing), signalling it was time to be ushered to the next "experience." There were tango classes, a Shrinky Dink craft studio, Hemingway x hard liquor in the library, etiquette classes in the dining room, and many other options, not to mention 3 open bars and snack stations. Our favorite experience featured Fritz from performance duo HiChristina! leading what were vaguely billed as "Parlor Games" in the living room: it's not every day you witness a man in a pink sequined cardigan and spandex pants effortlessly convincing a bunch of tech-industry VIPs to crawl around on the floor and meow like cats. Scenes from the night, below.
