1. The Maysles Cinema is hosting another edition in their on-going "Under the Influence" series with artist ESPO (aka Steve Powers) selecting films "that inspired his work and/or films that he's inspired or made." The screenings -- plus a Q&A with the artist -- begin at 7:30, May 21st, with $10 tickets.  His selections include a preview of Stylewars the Musical directed by Matt Lenski and ESPO Runs the Show by Joey Garfield.  All the details are here. 2. After their successful Record Store Day pop-up, Fat Beats tries again tomorrow, May 21, noon to 8 p.m., at 110 Bridge Street, 3rd floor, in DUMBO. Artists appearing at the store include Has-Lo, Blitz the Ambassador, Kooley High and many more.

4. Identity, the traveling electronic music festival featuring Holy Ghost! and DJ Shadow among tons of other artists, is coming to New York's Jones Beach (and 19 other cities) with three stages on August 21. Tickets are available on the festival's site.

5. This year's Gen-Art Film Festival runs June 8 to 14 and for $150 you can get a pass to all seven NYC premieres and (even better) seven after-parties at various local nightclubs.

6. A new art fair called artMRKT Hamptons
debuts July 14 to 17, 2011, on the grounds of the Bridgehampton Historical Society with over 35 galleries participating.  Also: London's Frieze Art fair is coming to NYC's Randall's Island on May 3 to 6, 2012. Mark your calendars.
