We are just loving New York Magazine's 40th Anniversary Issue on like every level right now, but our favorite bit has to be this excerpt from the conversation between Santogold (S), Debbie Harry (DH) and writer Ben Williams (NY).

NY: Do you think that hipsters evolved from punks?

DH: Hipsters?

S: It’s what everyone calls young guys now.

DH: Really? I just want to say grunge.

PAPER's David Hershkovits is convinced Debbie's being facetious. "She was the original hipster!" he shrieked. What do you think?
