For over 35 years, Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland has been serving adult artists with developmental, mental, and physical disabilities. Judith Scott, a former Creative Growth student, sculpted a chair wrapped in socks, string, a bike rim, among other house-hold oddities. She currently has work in the collection's of San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Collection l'Art Brut, Switzerland, The American Folk Art Museum, New York, and was part of a group exhibit at Gladstone Gallery, New York in 2006. In hopes of raising awareness, hope, and a little money, Creative Growth is hosting a one-day sample sale in Silverlake, on 3932 Sunset Boulevard, this Saturday, June 4th, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, where you can find super, soft printed tees, tanks, pullovers, and polos for girls and guys. All clothes are made by the philanthropic fashion brand, Creative Growth for Everybody. Proceeds will go to support Creative Growth Art Center.
