Heidi Julavits at powerHouse Arena
Heidi Julavits' new novel, The Vanishers, centers on a young psychic whose mentor becomes jealous of her growing soothsaying power. Tonight, Julavits, an editor for The Believer,  interviews New York City-based psychic Betsy Cohen about today's ESP industry.

powerHouse Arena, 37 Main St., Dumbo, Brooklyn, 7 p.m. (718) 666-3049. Free.

The Music of the Rolling Stones: Hot Rocks 1964-1971 at Carnegie Hall
Consider tonight's Carnegie Hall concert, "the Music of the Rolling Stones: Hot Rocks 1964-1971," a very, very fancy Stones covers night. Participants in this year's concert include Rosanne Cash, Peaches, the Mountain Goats, Jackson Browne, Art Garfunkel, Marianne Faithfull and Ronnie Spector. We think Mick and co. would approve.

Carnegie Hall, 154 W 57th St., (212) 247-7800. 8 p.m. $48-$150.
