Cat Power

Alex Scordelis

Although her live shows are notoriously erratic, Cat Power's records are equally mesmerizing for a different reason: the consistently brilliant songwriting, enchanting minimalist guitar work and smoky R&B vocals. Sun, her first LP of original songs since 2006, is no exception to her outstanding oeuvre. The pop swagger of songs like "3,6,9" and the epic "Nothin' But Time" (featuring a guest vocal by Iggy pop), will make you hope that there won't be another six-year wait for her next album.
