By Alexis Swerdloff

1. Starting tomorrow, Greg K (of Misshapes fame) and Leslie Arfin (of VICE and Dear Diary fame) are teaming up to host a regular Thursday night 1990's-themed party at Bowery Electric called LOSER. Says Leslie in an email: "Yes that includes Rap. It includes Alternative and Brit-Pop and slow songs and fast songs. It includes NOFX and Deee Lite and Neutral Milk Hotel and Color Me Badd. Everything from 1990 to 1999, all sandwiched into one awesome night."

1. Little known fact: Apparently United Bamboo did a small (but very cute!) collection for Uniqlo. (via Style Bubble)

2. Islands and Ra Ra Riot have been added to the already stellar Siren Fest roster, joining the likes of Stephen Malkmus, Broken Social Scene and Beach House.

3. The Crayola 64 box turns 50 this summer. When it debuted (on the Captain Kangaroo Show), the box cost $1.99. Fifty years later, it costs $5. Not a bad deal!

4. Dante’s Fried Chicken (a cooking and variety show) is coming to The Yard this Saturday. Bands such as Theophilus London and Ninja Sonic will be playing while dishes such as yam banana catfish and blueberry Guinness brisket are served.

5. Head on over to the Kai Kuhne sample sale, featuring a "beautiful selection of Kai Kuhne's most definitive work, transcending seasons and trends" at 218 W. 37th St., 7th floor, from 2-7 p.m.

Susan Cianciolo Declares the Sads and No Age Her Favorite Bands on Uniqlo T-Shirt

By Alexis Swerdloff

uniqlo t-shirt
Over the weekend, we did a brief drive-by at Uniqlo on Broadway and were both surprised and delighted when we spotted a T-shirt with the L.A. bands The Sads and No Age written on the front and "Are my favorite bands" written on the back. Now, Smell favorites No Age have been written about all over the place -- they even managed to eke their way into The New Yorker! But The Sads, well, they are lessall over the place! Comprised of ANP Quarterly's Aaron Rose, regular PAPER photographer Dan Monick, Melvins member David Scott Stone and Moonrats-er Aska Matsumiya, the quartet are known for their "silent" shows wherein the band plays, and their instruments are fed into a sound board and routed into headphones worn by the audience members! After further digging, we discovered that one of our favorite designers Susan Cianciolo designed the shirt for Uniqlo! And then after some more digging (i.e. chatting with some people here at PAPER), we discovered that Aaron Rose and Cianciolo were once married. We feel like such a gumshoe!

Here's a photo of The Sads doing their thang:

Mr. Mickey

Phillip Lim for Uniqlo

By Mickey Boardman

uniqlo line

The cuties lined up outside Uniqlo this morning to get their hungry little hands on the new Phillip Lim collaborations. Mr. Mickey went with PAPER's own Carrie Bodner who considers herself Phillip's #1 fan. The press was given an hour lead at 9 a.m. with the public allowed in at 10 a.m. Check out the line! Also here are some snaps of Carrie in one (yes just one) of her Phillip Lim for Uniqlo purchases. Also on display were the pieces by former Cloak designer Aleksandr Plokhov.

In other Lim news, his first boutique is opening in mid-July in Manhattan so start saving up girls!
