Scenes from the Over Under Launch
By Zandile Blay

When it comes to spotting and supporting fresh fashion talent, London is king. Now Jim Ressler of Underground-NYC, the sample sale venue with a celebrity following, is trying to take that crown. His latest venture is Over Under, a guerrilla style fashion show which gives emerging fashion designers a chance to showcase their pieces in a slickly produced fashion show. In addition to a prime SoHo location, the designers get free professional hair, makeup and promotion by 5WPR. Click models, Artists Loft, Getty Images and even Danny DeVito's Limoncello have all signed up to support Over Under. "There is no place left for small designers to show and it's not fair," said Kessler when asked why he decided to create this event. The inaugural one last week drew a quirky cross section of bankers, mainstream designers for high end labels, and fellow fledgling designers who come out to support the show and check out the up-and-comers. Guests saw and showcased slim denims and structured blazers by Sinner Saint and soft, sexy dresses by Linda Loudermilk, among other designers. Kessler, who was performing double duty as photographer and greeter for the event, plans to continue this event until it catches on. "This is only the first show, and the feedback and response is fantastic. I'm going to just keep building it."
