Michael Lucas: Dead or Alive?
By Alexis Swerdloff

We've just received information that Michel Lucas, the larger than life male porn entrpreneur, was found dead in his apartment last night.
Some in the know insist this could be a publicity stunt for his next film -- either way, we're pretty horrified.
Here's the press release we received:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York, NY (October 3rd, 2007) -- The body of Lucas Entertainment founder and CEO Michael Lucas was found last night in his Manhattan apartment.
Authorities released the photo below of the crime scene.
No additional information has been released. Stay tuned for further developments.
So, it is a publicity stunt. Gross.

The Blood Rose: "The First Sex-Horror Film"
By Dennis Dermody

Billed as the "First Sex-Horror Film," The Blood Rose is a 1969 French variation of Fanju's Eyes Without a Face by Claude Mulot. It's got plenty of nudity and violence but it's artful and wonderful too and thanks to Mondo Macabro, this uncut gorgeous transfer of this creepy carnal classic can be yours for a song.
The DVD features fun extras, such as fascinating stories from good-looking director Mulot, who was in his 20s when he embarked on this film. Mulot drowned in a tragic swimming accident in 1986. Mulot was a fan of the horror genre and he infused this movie with poetry along with breasts and blood. It's about a painter, Frederic Lansac, (Philippe Lemaire) who has a remote castle where he lives with his beautiful bride-to-be, Anne (Anny Duperey), who was hideously disfigured by a fire. A dubious doctor (Howard Vernon) is dragged in, and gorgeous women are captured and sacrificed in hopes of restoring Anne's beauty. It all goes very wrong. Mulot went on to make hard core sex films in France ironically under the name "Frederic Lansac" (the same name of the painter in this film). He made one of the best XXX films I ever saw: Pussy Talk (1975) about a woman with a possessed vagina. I saw this movie in New Orleans with a group of friends and it was fabulously sexy and funny.

JD Ferguson Presents: Himself!
By JD Ferguson
As JD Ferguson -- he who helms our favorite Friday feature JD Ferguson Presents –- gets ready to take his well-deserved summer vacation from his always-salacious gay porn series, we decided to turn the tables, and ask him some questions. Below, experience the magic.
What was your most memorable shoot and why? Oh god. They've all been memorable for one reason or another.
How do you get these guys comfy for the shoots? What do you say to them to get them to relax? Only one has been nervous, but most are ready to get down to business. They are porn stars after all.
Is there one guy that you had a serious crush on? There are body parts I've had major crushes on, but as far as personalities, I'd say Reese Rideout. Which is odd because Chris Rockway (who I love) was there as well, but it was something about Reese's demeanor that I just fell in love with. He was like a little puppy.

Heather Hunter: Becky & the Pussycats
By Rebecca Carroll

Taboo-breaking, boundary-busting, free-spirited former porn star turned artist, musician and author Heather Hunter tells us a thing or two about Ron Jeremy, gay porn and her Cosby-esque childhood. Her debut novel, Insatiable: The Rise of a Porn Star (St. Martin’s) is out this month.
Rebecca Carroll: Why a novel?
Heather Hunter: Everyone asks me that question! Well, I’ve been a private person throughout my whole career, and this [novel] is my life. That’s why it took me 10 years to actually finish the book -- because I’m still living it. I was battling over whether or not I should write it as an autobiography, and then decided I didn’t want to because I’m not a kiss-and-tell person. I respect peoples’ privacy -- especially when it involves me!
RC: What did it feel like to write your life as fiction?
HH: It was really cleansing because I realized I could still tell my story through fiction -- I could just let my imagination go. There were points where it felt like going through therapy for free.

Savanna Samson: Becky & the Pussycats Debut Interview
By Rebecca Carroll

Welcome to the first installment of my new column, Becky & the Pussycats, in which I will talk on the regular with the real porn stars of America (as opposed to my neighbors in Williamsburg who sport “porn star” tees with their skinny britches and dark austerity) -- the women who stay lubed for a living, spread ‘em for dollars with no shame in their game, and who, more than likely, are familiar faces to many of you out there reading.
When Savanna Samson greets me at the door of her midtown Manhattan apartment, I am immediately struck by how beautiful she is; she doesn’t look like she looks in her movies, or in any of her publicity shots. Wearing very little makeup, short terry cloth shorts, a snug-fitting tank and slide-on mules, she’s just plain petite and pretty and natural looking. Although later when we’re sitting on the couch in her living room, and I’m in closer proximity to her chest, it does seem fairly evident that her boobs are not the one’s that God gave her.
In just under an hour, we managed to address both her favorite topics and mine -- sex and the porn industry; race and politics, respectively.
Rebecca Carroll: You’re doing a lot with your life and career right now that extends beyond the porn world -- how has that come to be?
Savanna Samson: Through porn I’ve gotten everything I’ve always wanted.
RC: What was it that you always wanted?
SS: I wanted to be an actress, but I was too concerned about how I looked. I had some opportunities, but I was just nervous, you know? Then I found I could be naked in front of the camera and feel completely comfortable.
