Eight Items or Less: The Bell House, Motorhead and Cool Spaceships
By Gary Pini
1. Sorry, but this weekend's US edition of All Tomorrow's Parties is sold out. DC/Philly artists The Lilys are performing there on Sunday afternoon, but you can see them for free tonight at the grand opening of Brooklyn venue The Bell House (149 7th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Aves, Gowanus). The new spot is in an old warehouse with a lounge/bar in the front and a large concert venue behind. It's a great space with a mellow vibe in a neighborhood that reminds us of SOMA in San Francisco.
2. Motorhead is appearing at Roseland this Saturday, September 20. In an era of flash-in-the-pan internet stars, these guys just released their 20th studio album and show no signs of letting up. BYO earplugs.
3. Florida's Langerado Music Festival is moving to downtown Miami's Bicentennial Park on March 6-8, 2009. Last year's fest grossed $4.3 million and drew 25,000 people.
4. Does your taste in music reveal your personality? Scottish researchers asked 36,000 people what music they liked and then gave each a simple "personality test." The results showed that heavy metal fans are "gentle, creative types who are at ease with themselves" while indie lovers "lack self-esteem."
5. Trader Joe's Brooklyn branch is now set to open on September 26 at 130 Court Street.
6. Lots of cool spaceships and planes here.

Happy Birthday Capricorn!
By Ann Magnuson
I'd like to extend a very happy birthday to all my fellow Capricorns! Many famous driven people are Capricorns. Folks who make a point of making their mark in the world. As Kris Kristofferson reminded us, Jesus was a Capricorn. So was Elvis Presley, Marlene Dietrich, J.R. Tolkien, Joan of Arc, Muhammand Ali, Barry Goldwater, Rob Zombie, Ricky Martin, Edgar Allan Poe, John Denver, Shari Lewis (Lambchop too?), Susan Lucci, Mel Gibson, Howard Hughes, Mariliyn Manson, Val Kilmer, Richard Nixon, Herman Goering, Al Capone, Mao Tse Tung, Josef Stalin... uh, wait a minute. Sure we can be ambitious, sometimes ruthless but... most of us are softies deep down. At least those of us with our moon in Libra. Let's see. Capricorns....
