Beautiful Losers & RVCA Mix Skate and Art
By Kim Hastreiter

My OC friends from RVCA have been in and out of town for the past few weeks, and I'm so excited that they are bringing their amazing energy and fun to our coast. Last week Pat Tenore came by for some take out dinner with his friend, artist David Cho. Pat is the visionary co founder of the RVCA brand. He is not only an artist himself, but an art fanatic and enthusiast and a huge supporter who puts his money where his mouth is, sponsoring artists, musicians, filmmakers in the same way other brands sponsor sports figures. He was in town to meet up with Opening Ceremony, as he's producing a line with model and smart left coast skater girl Erin Wasson, and will sell the stuff there -- which is RVCA's first break into "fashion." Tenore just came off of a huge show he curated consisting of Barry McGee colab Cinelli bikes which he sold in his San Francisco shop, along with one of a kind bikes designed by every artist, from KAWS to Phil Frost.

Cinelli + RVCA = Some Amazing and Collectible Bicycles
By Kim Hastreiter

I am waiting with baited breath to see the bike collab (called "Pressure") that the awesome Italian bicycle company Cinelli is producing with my friends over at RVCA (and most importantly, some of their artists from their network program) that will debut at the RVCA shop in San Francisco (aka VASF) this June. Bicycle insiders will agree that this is authentic meets authentic.
There will be 50 Cinelli/RVCA Barry McGee bikes produced that will sell for $3,700 (complete bicycle) or $2100 (frame kit only). There will additionally be another group of one-of-a-kind artist bicycles (available in three frame sizes: 54, 56, 58) designed by ANP artists like Ashley Macomber, Clare Rojas, C.R. Stecyk III, Dan Murphy, Dmote, Jesse Geller, Josh Lazcano, KAWS, Madsaki, Phil Frost, PM Tenore and Stephen Powers. Pressure will launch at San Francisco's VASF Gallery (1485 Haight Street), on Thursday, Jun. 19 from 7-10 p.m. So if you live in SF put that in ink.

Arty Tats!
By Kim Hastreiter

The other fun thing I saw at Art Basel was a collab that one of my favorite artists Tobias Wong did with writer Aric Chen and Josee Lepage in the Design District. These guys opened a tatoo parlor and convinced some artists to design tatoos that would be given on site for the four days of Art Basel. They enlisted artists like Lawrence Weiner and Kaws (see their tat designs above) as well as Vito Acconci, Hella Jongorius and a few others. Great idea!
