Yigal Azrouel's Guide to the Hamptons
By Alexis Swerdloff

Israeli fashion designer Yigal Azrouel, known for his billowy, ultra-feminine, resort-friendly clothing, has recently expanded his empire, setting up shop in Watermill. His second boutique (Yigal’s flagship store is in the Meatpacking District), located in an 18th-Century carriage house, carries his ready-to-wear pieces along with his diffusion line, his Yigal Azrouel for K-Swiss sneakers and a curated assortment of Yigal-approved knick-knacks: candles, Criterion Collection DVDs, vintage eyewear and jewelry. In honor of his recent move, we asked him to compile for us a few of his favorite Hamptons spots. Take note, and perhaps you’ll be blessed with Yigal sighting –- in addition to being a skilled designer, he is quite a looker!

Fun Fashion in Montauk
By Kim Hastreiter
Montauk is not the salty fishing town it once was. These days, you can see Ralph and Ricky Lauren riding through town in their old pickup truck and Mickey Drexler at the local supermarket picking up supplies. The fashion retail world has not yet invaded the outermost Hampton town yet, but there is one really fun spot that opened Memorial Day weekend for the summer. It's an outpost of our favorite New York vintage shop Screaming Mimi's!!! Check out these photos of their cute beach spot and stop by if you're on the Montauk Highway this summer!

The $15,000 Concert
By PAPERMAG Editors

Here's a report from your special correspondent Gary Pini....
While you're sitting on scalding concrete at the Siren Festival this summer or waiting in line to hear your favorite DJ at PS1, pause for a minute and close your eyes. Imagine what suffering the unfortunate music fan in the Hamptons is going through. No Ruff Club, no Panty Party, no Mr. Black and barely a live venue in sight. But Wait! The $15,000 per person concert series is coming to save the day . The line-up includes Prince, Billy Joel (at least he won't have drive far), Tom Petty, James Taylor and Dave Mathews. We are falling asleep just thinking about it. And to be sure that you get your money's worth, the promoters (Bulldog Entertainment) promise more perks than the artists' dressing rooms: valet parking, celebrity chefs and even Moroccan pillows. Yes, we make fun now, but in 2037 we'll be first in line for the $150,000 tickets to see the Battles, CSS, Klaxons, Feist and Bonde do Role.

Theater of Cruelty in South Hampton Anyone?
By Ann Magnuson
These were the words in the subject line in a recent email from the talented and witty John Fleck, who is starring in an "open rehearsal" of The Hotel Savant's production of Antonin Artaud's The Cenci... at Robert Wilson's Watermill Center in the Hamptons! (An appropriate location for Theater of Cruelty if ever there was one.)
This extremely rare work has been revived by The Hotel Savant's artistic director and leading savant John Jahnke, a dear and very talented pal of ours. Jahnke commissioned Richard Sieburth to do an English translation of the work and somehow managed to convince the Artaud Estate to allow him to produce the play (The Artaud -- like the Samuel Beckett -- estate is very VERY selective)! BRAVO JOHN!
Jankee's "Open Rehearsal" is part of the Watermill Center Spring Artists-in-Residence series and will occur TODAY, Thursday, May 10, at 2:30 p.m. Oops, you might have missed it! Don't worry, The Hotel Savant will be producing the play again in Manhattan, a town that is no stranger to the cruelty, theatrical or otherwise. Jahkne and his troupe produced the never-before-staged Susan Sontag play Parsifal last year (see photos below) at P.S.122 and I am sure their Artaud piece will be equally compelling!
