Want To Be in The Like?
By Gillian Tozer
With their crashing drums and fuzzy guitars, all-girl, L.A.-based band The Like have a sixties, indie sound filled with inflections of The Pretenders and Belly. Their first album released in 2005, threw several fast, tight tracks at you, all pinned together by the lulling vocals of lead singer Z Berg. Signed to monster record label Geffen Records straight out of high school, the girls went on to play a mental tour schedule alongside acts such as Kings of Leon, Tori Amos, Razorlight, Phantom Planet and Arctic Monkeys. Their next album, produced by Mark Ronson and Alex Greenwald, is due out early 2010, and yes, all this sweetness could be yours! While perusing Olivier Zahm's highly addictive photo blog purple-diary.com, we saw this photo of Like member Tennesee Thomas's shout-out for a new keyboardist. Get it together and email shangadoolang@gmail.com. This could be you in rehearsals, in no time! (BYO floaties.)Photo by Olivier Zahm
