Eight Items Or Less: Art Basel Bits

1. News re: Art Basel Miami is starting to pick up with word that Jeffrey Deitch will showcase Santigold (formerly Santo-) at his annual party-on-the-beach behind the Raleigh Hotel on Wednesday, December 2.

2. Also, look for lots of new faces this year as 60 galleries are not returning, but over 65 are moving in. Plus the orange shipping containers won't be on the beach at 23rd Street, as the Art Positions exhibitors are moving to the inside of the convention center.

3. There will still be a lot happening in Collins Park, however, as Creative Timeis putting together a big program centered around a space designed by L.A. artist Pae White (whose art is pictured above).

4. At the Ogori Cafein Kashiwa, Japan, "you get what the person before you ordered. The next person gets what you ordered."

6. Yes, we enjoyed seeing all the celebrities at PAPER's Casa Lever (390 Park Avenue) party for Pedro Almodovar, but we really loved the food. Mario Danieli and the owners of Sant Ambroeus have re-worked the space and the menu. We had Parmesan risotto, swordfish, a fantastic salad and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Very yummy!
