About Last Night... Svedka Vodka Sessions with Diane Birch

By Jake Stavis

The third installment of Giant Step and the Morgans Hotel Group's Svedka Vodka Sessions emerging artists concert series went down last night at the Hudson Bar in the super swanky Hudson Hotel. Doors opened early and allowed guests to mingle and schmooze for almost two hours before folk chanteuse Diane Birch graced the stage with her soulful piano and brass styling’s. Birch played a number of tracks from her recent album Bible Belt, and as an added treat, a slow and sensual cover of Haddaway’s A Night at the Roxbury classic, “What is Love? (Baby Don’t Hurt Me).” Guests were treated to an open Svedka bar featuring ginger and pomegranate cocktails as well as your regular tonic/soda fare. Rounding out the celebrity contingent was The Vampire DiariesKayla Ewell, who was, in the slightly modified words of my girl Leighton Meester, “hangin’ in the corner with her five three best friends.”
