Spring Cleaning with... Emily Current of CURRENT/ELLIOTT

By Julia Frakes

emily-current.jpgLos Angeles-based designer/stylist Emily Current is responsible for having re-introduced "the boyfriend jean" into the mainstream (read: glossy) cultural consciousness as co-designer of CURRENT/ELLIOTT along with Merritt Elliot (the dynamic duo have also styled together for over ten years under the "fash-alias" MAUDE for the likes of Mandy Moore and Emma Roberts). As an avid admirer of their work -– and no doubt loyal devotee to their venerated denim wares –- I'm perhaps most besotted with CURRENT/ELLIOTT's airy, ethereal lookbooks. Boasting ribbons-in-hair, prairie lambs, historical references, dainty florals, cowhugging, Victorian drawers, and bunny ears -– it could not be of a more personal, kindred aesthetic. So it goes without saying what an utter delight it was to catch up with Emily (considered a leading light on all things fashion around L.A.) for our first Left Coast edition of "Spring Cleaning With..."
