The second I walked into the Marc Jacobs show I felt it was correct on so many levels. I got there at ten to eight for an eight o' clock show (correct) and the show began at two minutes to eight (correct). The show was about the clothes and not about the celebrities (correct). The seating was simply spread throughout the entire Armory space so it was comfortable and the clothing was completely visible (correct). And the collection was completely fabulous. I LOVED IT. And he NAILED IT. Marc is such a rare bird in that his work is really about creating fashion to define our culture as opposed to simply just creating great designs, new silhouettes, awesome beauty or inventive cuts.

With our world teetering on chaos, he seized this huge cultural moment and decided to lead us through its aggression, scariness and uncertainty with a bold collection referencing the eighties -- Vivienne Westwood's corsets gone wild, New York's Mudd Club filled with slumming uptown punk socialites on drugs, Stephen Sprouse's grey flannel and day-glo coats, Studio 54 drugged-out royalty. It was an amazing show and completely inspired me and I'm sure will inspire the kids. Bravo!
