I Love Me! A Tribute to Liz Renay: This Sunday at Santos
By Catherine Neckes

Move over, Dita. Pearl Elizabeth Dobbins, aka Liz Renay, aka the burlesque superstar legend, reclaims (from the grave, no less) her pasties for a night of striptease, art and music at Santos Party House. In conjunction with Deitch Projects and the Burlesque Hall of Fame, on Sunday night the dance den is putting on a lavish affair in tribute to the outrageous dancer cum actress cum novelist cum mobster-girlfriend. A woman of many hats, we'd say.
Judging from her subtly titled autobiography My First 2,000 Men and her lurid past, which involves a mother-daughter burlesque act, we are expecting a serious blowout chez Santos. Considering the woman was linked to the likes of Mickey Cohen, Cary Grant and Regis Philbin, would the people settle for less? Sunday's fete, which corresponds with an exhibit of her paintings on display at Deitch Projects, Santos is hosting a Renay look-alike contest; burlesque performances by Julie Atlas Muz, Dirty Martini, Paula the Swedish Housewife, Jo Boobs and others an installation by Sequinette; and a DJ set by Scott Ewalt, an "intimate of Ms Renay's" in the later years of her life.
Santos Party House, 96 Lafayette St. (212) 584-5492. January 11th. 8 p.m. $5.
