Eight Items or Less: Times Square Virgin Megastore to Close and Leonard Cohen to Play the Beacon Theatre

1.The Times Square Virgin Megastore is going to close in April. It's the highest volume music store in the U.S. with sales near $55 million a year. No decision has been made regarding the Union Square store.

2. Folk singer Leonard Cohen will perform at the Beacon Theatre on February 19 with tickets on sale Friday, January 16.

3. Cheap Trick is close to signing a year-long deal with the Las Vegas Hilton to perform The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band with a full orchestra.

4. The London Times reports that Greenpeace has purchased a piece of land the size of a football field in the path of a proposed runway at Heathrow airport.

5. Los Campesinos! are playing tonight for free at 8 p.m. at Sound Fix (110 Bedford Ave., Williamsburg, Brooklyn).

6. A study at Durham University found that heavy coffee drinkers were three times more likely to have extra-sensory experiences than low users.
