GIVE A SHOUT TO WORD UP! wordup@papermag.com

Word of Mouth

Eight Items or Less: Vincent Gallo, The Cool Kids and "Shempi"

By Gary Pini

1. "Vincent Gallo is a punk," according to Abel Ferrara. The film director also tells Steve Lewis that his neighbor is a "made guy who has Alzheimer's and tosses his garbage out of the second floor into a garbage pit. He never misses."

2. Former PAPERMAG guest bloggers (and rap duo) the Cool Kids will headline the fourth annual Bounce Tour sponsored by 2K Sports. They are also set to appear as "playable character" in a video game. The group's current EP Bake Sale has sold over 31,000 copies and their debut album is coming out before the end of the year.

3. Forbes lists last year's highest paid authors:
1. JK Rowling ($300 million)
2. James Patterson ($50 million)
3. Stephen King ($45 million)
4. Tom Clancy ($35 million)
5. Danielle Steel ($30 million)

4. Halloween costume suggestion (part one): Stormtrooper hoodie from Marc Ecko.

5. Check out the new "Shempi" video from Brooklyn duo Ratatat, featuring a de-constructed and re-assembled ABBA.
