Ryan McGinley Emerges From the Bat Caves

When I caught up with photographer Ryan McGinley at the Benjamin Cho show, he had just returned from spending an entire summer hanging out with bats in a cave shooting photographs. Really. So
it's no wonder he's not hitting every party and every show this week. "Usually, every summer I do a trip around the United States," he said, "And I come back right when Fashion Week starts, so I am just trying to decompress myself. I am not trying to make it out every night." As we stood there chit-chatting, I couldn't help but notice a tiny, gold pendant hanging from a string around his neck that read, "Let's get naked." So the conversation then went something like this:

Me: Your necklace says let's get naked, do you mean it?

Ryan: Ya! Always and forever. For eternity. I give them to all my models, after they are done modeling for me they get a little gold "Lets get naked" necklace and it has my name written on script in the back [turns it around to show me].
