Word of Mouth

About Last Night... The Red Thread: The Inspiration & Passion of Valentino Garavani

By Rebecca Prusinowski and Rebecca Suhrawardi Austin

Last night, The Rebeccas with looong last names (Prusinowski and Suhrawardi Austin) hit the opening reception for The Red Thread: The Inspiration & Passion of Valentino Garavani, a multi-media exhibit celebrating the designer's looks and legacy. The crowd (which included Liv Tyler, Mary J. Blige, Rachel Zoe, Chanel Iman, Katie Lee Joel and Vivica A. Fox) seemed to have only one thing in mind: Meeting the master. At one point in the evening, the Rebeccas found themselves sitting together with the iconic Italian himself... a Valentino Sandwich, if you will! Rebecca S. A. nearly went into cardiac arrest!

Meanwhile Rebecca P. was on the prowl for some Fashion Week footwear -- check in throughout the week for her FWFW reports -- and Project Runway's reigning alum Christian Siriano caught her eye with some pointy tan patent leathers. We assumed the snazzy pair were by some chi-chi label, but they were from ZARA!!! "Say they're vintage!" he joked. No way! Knowing he shops at the Spanish mass retailer makes them even more fierce in our book.

Rebecca P. then chatted up uber-stylist Rachel Zoe and inquired about her Fashion Week footwear predictions for the upcoming collections. "The highest high platforms possible. Higher than ever!" she grinned. Eeek! That doesn't bode well for those of us who teeter on two inches. "Or it could go in the other direction and be all flats," she added less enthusiastically. Does she ever wear flats? "Never, ever." Well, then, is there a height limit to her heels? "No limit! If Marc Jacobs made stilts, I'd be the first to wear them!" We eyed the marvelous 5-plus-inch monsters she had on and knew she wasn't lying!

Comments

I thought the show was amazing. I am in town with Adam Sandler, Judd Apatow looking at locations for a movie written by Dr Rand Pink.
