Designer Angel Sanchez Takes on the Restaurant Biz

Angel Sanchez, Delfina Figueras and Nacho Figueras

As of late, we've seen fashion designers expanding their resumes and venturing into non-fashion-runway-related fields -- dabbling in hotel design, airline uniform design, fragrance design, dinner plate design... you get the picture. But Angel Sanchez will be the first one I have heard of to design the interior of a restaurant from top to bottom, down to the uniforms, with Nuela, his venture with Hamptons celeb Nacho Figueras, set to open in Manhattan this fall.

If we're lucky, he'll dig deep back into his past life as an architect and wow us with an environment that is as inspired by structure as it is by beauty, sort of like what he does with his clothing.

And, by the way, the food is not to be missed! They held a private preview at an East End estate this weekend where chef Doug Rodriguez personally presided over the kitchen. Let me tell you, the shrimp ceviche and the corn on the cob are ones to watch.
