The Instant: Polaroid Show and Party
By Kat Clements

This Saturday, and for one night only, the Texas Firehouse will host The Instant, a group exhibition that features the Polaroid artwork of talents such as Jean Frederic Bourdier, Louise Ingalls Sturges and PAPERMAG's very own Andrew De Francesco. Also on offer? A wall of wild and winsome "kissing polaroids" to which you can add your own, and a performance by the cartoonish and terribly talented cabaret couple Ching Chong Song. Inspired by the demise of photo's most mesmerizing medium (in my opinion), the ladies behind the show put out a call for entries early this year and have since curated a stellar collection, composed a catalogue of works and will shortly throw a killer party to celebrate all of the above and more.
Fashion, photography, my family vacations, none of these will be the same after that last pack of Polaroid has passed through my camera, but with works from The Instant up on the walls this weekend (and travelling around the world shortly after) there's hope that this artwork and its maker will have a second shot.
