Wild Over Winky Dink!

Just wild over the new Hiya, Kids!! DVD from Shout Factory)... It's a special four-disc set of Saturday morning kiddie shows from the 1950s like Howdy Doody, Kukla, Fran And Ollie, Ding Dong School, featuring the mannish looking school marm Miss Francis, Andy's Gang, The Roy Rogers Show, where Roy and wife Dale Evans sing "Happy Trails To You!" at the end of each show, The Pinky Lee Show, whose child-man host predated Pee Wee Herman, the weird Juvenile Jury and my favorite, Winky Dink And You. Hosted by game show host favorite Jack Barry, the show let children put "magic screens" over their TVs so they could crayon along with the host. Of course most kids just crayoned on their TVs without the "magic screen" which pissed off a lot of parents but it's truly bizarre and wonderful. This is nine and a half hours of fabulous weirdness.....
