About Last Night... PS 122 Spring Gala Honoring Tom Murrin and Lori E. Seid
By Caroline Torem Craig
The beautiful, slightly eerie Angel Orensanz Foundation was the unique setting for Performance Space 122’s annual spring gala honoring PAPER'S very own and very beloved Tom Murrin, aka The Alien Comic, and producer Lori E. Seid. At one point, equally legendary Chi Chi Valente leaned over and whispered to me, “It’s so wonderful when someone so nice and truly genuine like Tom Murrin is recognized by all!” We couldn’t agree more. In addition to a live auction, zany antics by host Jonathan Ames and a funny appearance by George Bush, notable downtowners Steve Buscemi, Justin Bond, Julie Atlas Muz, Lisa Kron and David Cale read from Murrin’s hilarious 1969 play “Cock-Strong.” In addition, Rosie O’Donnell spoke with incredible emotion about her love and admiration for her good friend Lori E. Seid. There was a lot of love in the room in general and a fabulous time was had by all!
