Gallic Gorefest: Frontiere(s)!!!

By Dennis Dermody

I saw the most outrageous French shocker at the Film Comment Selects series yesterday: Frontiere(s). Directed by Xavier Gens (Hitman), the film follows four kids escaping Paris during the riots with some stolen cash who end up deep in the country at a remote inn chuck full of neo-Nazi cannibals. Really relentless, paying homage to '70s horror films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre but jaw-dropping in it's excessive violence, this French tickler will be out on Lionsgate DVD in a few months and you shouldn't miss it. My jaw became unhinged during the last blood-spattered half-hour.
