Mizrahi Goes Claiborne
By Kim Hastreiter
My old friend Isaac Mizrahi announced yesterday that he is going to become the creative director of the sleepy brand Liz Claiborne... a company that seems to be in the process of reinventing itself with its recent purchases of Narciso Rodriguez and Kate Spade. I think Isaac makes perfect sense for this brand. That is, of course, if they let him do what he's good at. If they do, Liz Claiborne can actually get back on the fashion map! (was it ever even there?) I actually think Isaac would also be great as creative director of Kate Spade, as his aesthetic, humor and intelligence really mirrors that of the Spades. He would do such a brilliant job!!!!! I'm sad Mizrahi won't be doing his fab stuff for Target anymore though. I'd advise everyone to buy as much as they can this season (I just saw the lookbook and its fabulous!) as it will all become collectible. Plus we should all stock up on his Target home stuff because you'll never see this again! (I already bought two entire sets of his fruit dishes, bowls plates, cups, butterfly and lily sheets etc. on Target.com )
