The Fahey/Klein Gallery played host to Lion's Gate marketing genius Tim Palen, who had a quickie week-long exhibit of his gorgeously gruesome photos (fittingly, during this past Halloween season). Tim created the posters and marketing campaigns that helped make the SAW franchise a mind-bogglingly money-making machine. Thanks to Sue Wong and the fancy dress code at the Magic Castle (where we were going after Tim's show) I made the fashion-oriented pages of last Sunday's L.A. Times IMAGE section. (Where do I send the fruit basket?)
According to the article in the Times, Tim's GUTS exhibit "drew a vast crowd as eclectic as an aquarium." I managed to snag snaps of some of the bigger fish -- Tim P. with SAW producer Oren Koules, Sylvester Stallone with his lovely wife Jennifer Flavin, former PAPER cover girl Debi Mazar with her lovely husband Gabriele Corcos, Donovan Leitch with his lovely daughter (whose mom is supermodel Kristy Hume) and, of course, a close-up of Tim Palen's GUTS.

Ann, you look cute and love the dress. I'm sure Palen has talent, but those "Saw" movies are just plain awful and ridiculous. I saw the first one and although it had some creepy moments, I found it totally implausible and just icky. And don't get me started on "Hostel" which I rented this weekend. The fact that these torture movies are popular make me wonder where we're going as a culture. I had to rent "Strangers on a Train" the next day to get the stank off my dvd player! I think humour is at an all time low, also. Saw some of "Knocked Up" at the video store and found it supremely unfunny! And fuck really loses its impact when it's every other word in the script! OY, don't get me started!

Well I for one beg to differ on the SAW films...1 and 2 were brilliant and anyone who watched and disagrees obviously did not really watch the films...3 was ok and 4 just pushed it....like the Halloween series there is nowhere else to go.Its important to realize that the killer jigsaws method is to liberate those souls whose do not see the beautiful in everyday existence and would surely walk over anyone to get ahead in life....sometimes a horror movie can be a great metaphor

"1 and 2 were brilliant and anyone who watched and disagrees obviously did not really watch the films"
Would anyone go through all that shit to kill someone? I didn't think they were brilliant in the least, there was no real suspense (try watching Hitchcock for the real thing) and the plot was very implausible and I didn't care about any of the characters and it was just plain BORING. And you reveal your ignorance by stating something as dumb as "anyone who disagrees obviously didn't watch it" as if your opinion is the only one!
